National Development Communications Manager
The National Development Communications Manager is an exemplary writer and content producer who can help us tell compelling stories about the organization and the veterans we serve across a wide range of digital and print platforms. Reporting to the National Director of Communications and Marketing, the National Development Communications Manager will develop communications that leverage earned, shared, and owned media to advance our fundraising goals of meaningfully engaging a wide variety of donors, foundations, government entities, and volunteers committed to ensuring the long-term success of U.S.VETS' mission through philanthropic support and advocacy. This person will work closely with frontline fundraisers, developing content, cultivating, and stewarding donor relationships. The successful candidate must effectively and persuasively present U.S.VETS' case for support, convey our vision clearly and expertly to multiple audiences, and create powerful messages that drive fundraising and engagement results.

Responsibilities
• Create donor-centric content for cultivation, fundraising, engagement events and stewardship communications, including campaign emails, appeals, impact stories, newsletters, blog posts, annual reports, proposals, website content, event materials, and digital/social media content
• Develop broad and deep knowledge of programming and initiatives at U.S.VETS to be able to communicate our mission and illustrate our programs to potential funders
• Partner with national and regional teams to identify compelling stories and build a pool of usable content and testimonials from our veteran clients and the employees and volunteers who serve them
• Collaborate on strategic social media campaigns to promote U.S.VETS and increase engagement, influence and inspire a new generation of donors
• Create and update pitch decks with clear and compelling data and narratives for fundraising staff to utilize with prospects and donors
• Manage communications projects from start to finish, including reviewing deliverables to ensure branding and quality standards are met and successfully moving them forward in a timely and collaborative manner
• Manage donor and supporter email lists in Constant Contact to ensure communications are sent to appropriate external stakeholders
• Gather, analyze, and report marketing and communication campaigns data and use the insights to adjust approaches as needed
• Identify the effective and important metrics for measuring communications effectiveness, such as engagements, clickthrough rates, etc.
• Lead digital executionacross email, website, and social mediaof fundraising and engagement campaigns throughout the year
• Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Requirements
• A bachelor’s degree in communications, nonprofit management, public relations, marketing, or related field and at least three years of experience in a development, communications, fundraising, grant writing or similar role
• Must be well organized and able to create and maintain centralized communications resources that will enhance fundraising solicitations and stewardship
• Exceptional writing and editing skills
• Must have great interpersonal skills to work with various departments to gather content and ensure U.S.VETS’ messaging is consistent and aligns with branding guidelines
• Excellent time management skills with ability to multi-task, prioritize and work independently in a deadline-driven environment
• Manage complex projects while maintaining very high attention to detail
• Self-starter with high level of initiative and ability to identify problems and propose solutions
• Proficiency in leveraging social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
• Strong aesthetic instinct for digital layouts and an exceptional eye for detail
• Knowledge of website content management systems and graphic design platforms such as Adobe Creative Suite, a plus
